spent a fuck ton of money on dinner last night and got too drunk/dinner was served too late that i fell asleep before i got to eat. :/

not in the best mood, and i find my friends from chicago are coming down, and there is nothing more in the world i would love than to dj for them, but im not.
ive dj'ed one of six (soon to be one of seven) events we've had. i admit, i had other plans for two of them, but i wasnt invited to one of those two anyway.
so much for rotating (i play 2, skip one, repeat)

just got confirmation that i will be dj'ing a 20 or so minute set at NEO in chicago!!!

for anyone that doest know:
neo is THE biggest club night in chicago for almost ten years now. the only other club night that has ever rivaled neo is at smart bar/the metro.
this is SO big for me.
so crazy, fucking big.

im sure no one i know/care about will be there (PLEASE! PROVE ME WRONG!!!), but... wow.

im djing in bloomington sept 1 (tuesday, not monday)
im *also* now djing the mel ON my bday.... sept 7th. labor day.

im djing a wedding reception. i forget when. sept 16th? i think?

im doing the hocico show on oct 7th
if i dont go to the uber fest in chicago oct 2 - 3rd, ill be djing at the volrath on the 3rd.

Ayria will be performing at Dragon*Con this Labor Day weekend (September 4 - September 7, 2009) in Atlanta, GA.(yes, I'll be there for the entire weekend to have fun and meet people and no I don't yet know the night of Ayria's performance). Dragon*Con is the largest multi-media, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the US and I'm honoured and excited to get to be a part of this event. Plus, look at the list on the website of the actors and authors that will be there! It's going to be an insanely fun weekend.

I'm actually looking for helpers for DragonCon willing to do one or both of the following:
1. help at the merchandise booth (I'm looking for people that can do a shift(s) that fit their schedules - as little or as much time as you want to help for)

All helpers will be compensated, with loads of merch from me (including new items I'm getting made up), plus maybe it'd be a good idea to do a lunch or dinner with everyone that wants to hang out so I could show my appreciation? so...
where to begin....

went to cincinnati last night to check out their 'great' night.
it wasnt a bad time, so before i go any further, i dont want to be misjudged....

...but there were about 60/70 people, and of course, i came the one time things weren't as good as they usually are. isnt it funny how (i say it all the time as well, so im not doubting) you always come the one time things are slow? every night im not at a club, its the biggest night they have ever had. i dont get it.

i then have gretchen tell me how i have the ability to beat match, but i cant/dont do it.
im not trying to say i do, but wouldnt it help to at least LISTEN TO ONE OF MY SETS before making a comment like that? gretchen comes into the back room for about ten minutes at a time, maybe... maaaayybe once a night, usually not even that. is that asking too much? to ACTUALLY listen to someone play before you say what their abilities are?

i talked to caroline as well, about gencon. she has been programmed by gretchen to think "lets just throw a great, simple dj party. everyone will love it!" something clicked in me, when she said that. i go to comicon every year, and yet, ive only been out to neo ONCE in five years. why? because its JUST a club night. i can come up for that whenever. i want/need something extra to make it worth my time to be tired the next day at the con. i dont know why, but hearing caroline parrot everything gretchen says made something snap in me. im not sure how to feel right now, but im pretty sure bitterness and rage are up top on the list at the moment. im growing weary of ONLY being able to do what gretchen says/wants. im not trying to say i want to run things, im just saying ANY input would be nice.
in theory, gretchen IS listening to me about getting alternate acts for gencon, but we will see, as she said "for one night only". id settle for thursday and saturday only.

sorry for the rant! its been a while now though....

ilan (sp?) was a REALLY great host though (he's dating gretchen, i think). he got us in the door, and even gave us drink tickets! it was nice!
they had some dj playing who was from... philly? pittsburgh? something like that. and he kept playing with the effects on the mixer. i was REALLY not fond of that. there are times it works, and there are places you can make some really neat stuff happen, but as a general rule, the song works on its own, dont eff it up. it was yet another (kinetic fest was the other main time) case of 'im better than X, why cant i get one of those spots?' {gretchen doesnt think so though, it seems... ha!} that ive had recently. ::sigh::

well, its been a fucking journey, thats for sure.

i get to chicago, no problem.
long story short, we get to the border, and sprite has some problems, which have never been an issue until this very trip (how does that make sense?!) and he cant get through.
our 14 hour drive ends up taking 22 hours. :/ there was another problem with some clothes we brought in, but... whatever.

so, we get to montreal, its nice here.
around this time, i found out from my wife that she is pissed off at me for going on this trip, even though i asked somewhere around SIX times if she would be mad, and explaining that she wasnt allowed to be mad..... yeah, shes mad. that makes sense. thats fair.
so my wonderful vacation is now one of the shittiest trips ive ever taken. had to have fun when you wife is literally cussing you out over text messages for abandoning her. our oldest cat seems to be having health problems, and combined with my updates on the border patrol issues, shes flipped out. im hoping she will calm down, but i have no way of being sure to know. ugh. ::sigh::

so this fest is for sure THE place to go if you are in the industrial scene!
i cant imagine there are more than 2500 people TOTAL for the fest! m'era luna has 25,000. wow! how intimate!
ive seen half the bands just randomly walking around. im hoping to grow some balls today and talk to the people i admire.

ive been taking notes on the bands, but suddenly, im not feeling up to writing anymore. i think im getting a fucking ulcer over this whole ordeal. ::sigh:: fuck! im so pissed right now. grrr. im going to keep calling her all day today until she talks to me, so i can at least get a full understanding of what is going on.
